My process starts with an idea or a feeling that I want to convey. I keep a sketchbook where I draw in pencil from observation, memory and my imagination. I keep a large collection of images and other inspiration in files on my Mac. The original digital artwork is created in Photoshop and is not a reproduction of art created in another medium. I work slowly and change my mind often. I enjoy working hard on building a good composition and wrestling with color. The final artwork is a print created through the Giclee process. High quality pigmented ink is sprayed onto bright white, archival matte paper. For the most recent Flower Collage prints, the process starts with damaged or test prints I’ve collected over the years. I cut up the prints and assemble the collages. The collages are scanned into Photoshop and I continue to work on them until finished.
